Review: Silver Shadows (A Bloodlines Novel) by Richelle Mead

Silver Shadows
by Richelle Mead

(Bloodlines series – book 5 of 6)

Rating: 4.25 / 5

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.
In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her feelings hidden from the Alchemists.
Now in the aftermath of an event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they have to survive.
For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of him. . . .
Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off.

I’ve been waiting SO long for Silver Shadows!! If you’ve read the previous books, then you will understand the crazy feels and why we just HAD to know what happened following The Fiery Heart.
Boy oh boy, does Richelle Mead knows how to end a book on a cliff hanger… but not just a regular cliff hanger. I would probably describe it as ‘dangling off the edge of a cliff with one finger’. I couldn’t imagine life without my ship –  Sydrian.

In Silver Shadows, poor Adrian is at his wits end trying to find miss Sydney Sage after the Alchemists took her. I can’t believe I forgot how much I missed that brooding and tremendously cute and romantic vampire! Adrian is and has been my favorite character from The Vampire Academy to the Bloodlines series. I kind of got a little frustrated with him at one point in the book though.. because although we all love Adrian Ivashkov for his charm and charisma, he does have a dark side that he tends to go down when alcohol is involved. I wanted to smack some sense into that sexy vampire! But we all know that Adrian is willing to do whatever it takes to get his Sydney Sage back.
Mean while, Sydney is trying to survive in the environment she’s in. Trying to reach out to Adrian seems a bit difficult since they control their sleeping habits by drugging them in and out of sleep.
If you know Sydney Sage (and you should by now since this is the 5th book in the series lol), then you’ll know she’s stubborn and willing to do whatever it takes to do what she thinks is right.
With that being said, you can imagine the type of drama and action that comes into play! Seriously, I was sitting up and preparing myself for the worst on every single page I read! Although the reason why I did knock this book down a bit in the rating was because I’m a pretty impatient person, and you had to wait till over half way through the book to really see some action and things finally getting done. When I think about it though, it probably had to be done that way and slowly put things together to make perfect sense rather than just speeding through like a lot of other books do.
OH!! And the CLIFF HANGER! Boy, I can’t forget that. I knew once things were settled on one end, something else would explode with another. But of course, it has to right? I kind of expected what happened to happen at some point… I just didn’t know WHEN exactly. So I guess you can just imagine what the next book will be like!
