Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

RATING: 4.5/5 Stars

Before I start this review, I’m going to have to be honest. I read the first and second book back to back, so both books are kind of mixing together in my head right now lol! So I’m going to try my best to keep them as separate as possible!

Anyways! Woo! I really liked this book! After reading the first in the series (Sweet Evil), I knew the second book could have a lot of potential to move forward… and boy I was not disappointed at all!

The book picks up a little after the last book ends and Anna is finally starting to embrace what she needs to do in order to get things accomplished. In the first book, Sweet Evil, her father (Duke of Substance Abuse), started training her on how to drink properly when she’s out “working” so she wouldn’t over step her limit.
Shortly after she started to embrace her past, she starts working at high school parties and makes a reputation for herself to keep up her identity.

Soon after the book starts, Anna is visited by someone who changes everything. She now knows exactly what she is meant to do, and her father is going to help her accomplish just that by sending Anna on multiple trips with Kope, son of the Duke of Wrath, to find others out there just like them.

Kope is someone we are introduced to in the first book, but we didn’t get to know his real character. He’s smart, loyal, and has a really good head on his shoulders. I REALLY love his character. He’s so different from the others of their kind. It was refreshing to get to know a lot more about him because he truly is special!

Other characters we get to learn more about is Blake, Kaiden’s ‘best friend’, and the twins Marna and Ginger.

Blake, son of the Duke of Envy, is hilarious. I love his friendship with Kaiden, as they balance each other out. I loved how Wendy wrote the banter between the two because I found myself laughing at the parts with them together. I also enjoyed how he treated Anna as if she was his sister. Blake is a really fun and talented guy, and yet still knows when to be serious when needed.

The twins, Marna and Ginger, daughters of the Duke of Adultery,  couldn’t be anymore different! I loved Marna from the beginning because she’s so sweet and caring unlike her sister Ginger. You could tell Ginger was trying to be tough for Marna because of something she went through when they were younger. I couldn’t stand Ginger in the first book, but you get to see a different side of her in this book.

One thing I really think set this book apart from the first was all the adventures! I loved reading about all the trips, and it kept me on my toes thinking about what’s going to happen next. There were a lot of “hold your breath” moments, which was great because I think the first book lacked just that.

Oh, and goes what? I can finally stand Kaiden! I didn’t really like him in the first book because of, well, he was an ass lol! But I think he knows now what he wants out of life, and he isn’t ashamed to want it either. Therefore, I really really like him now.

So with that said, I liked the second book a lot more than I did the first. There was a lot more character development in this book, and I cannot wait to read the next one!!
